Franklin County Bicentennial Celebration Events
In celebration of Alabama’s 200th Bicentennial, Franklin County will be host to several events. On Tuesday, February 6, 2018 there will be a Bicentennial Kickoff/Historical Marker unveiling at the Franklin County Archives on Limestone Street in Russellville at 10:00 a.m. Starting March 1, 2018 Franklin County will have a Historical Trail Pastport. This event will end on November 20, 2019. During this time you can pick up a Pastport at the Red Bay City Hall or at the Franklin County Archives. The goal is to visit each of these places listed on the inside of the Pastport and to have them stamp your Pastport. Once you have received a stamp from each place listed you will need to turn your Pastport in to the Franklin County Archives. They will put the names of people that completed their Pastport in a drawing for a gift basket to be given away on November 22, 2019. The contents of the basket will be things made in Alabama. There will also be an event on Saturday May 12, 2018, Pioneer Days at Sloss Lake in Russellville from 9am – 5p.m; featuring live history demonstrations. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy these events!
